Chapter Leadership

President’s Message

Greetings!

Welcome to the Marianna Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. website.

“MAAC” as the chapter is affectionately called, was chartered on February, 17, 1979, by eighteen (18) college-educated, professional, talented, and civically-minded women, whose sole desire was to make a positive impact in their local community. That desire was manifested in various acts of public service; as exampled by the legacy of twenty-two (22) Illustrious Founders of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. who paved the way for “MAAC” by their demonstrations of public service during a tumultuous time in 1913.

As one writer once extolled, “To whom much is given, much is required,” Luke 12:48. The Marianna Area Alumnae Chapter has been blessed beyond measure in many ways to be able to provide many activities that the community has partnered. For example, some activities/events have been Backpack Giveaways for the local school children, Voter Registration Drives, Toy Giveaways, Community Christmas Dinner, Annual Baccalaureate Ceremony, Red Shoe Challenge, Red Carpet Day, Purple Cabaret, and this past year, The Virtual College Fair; just to name a few. Thank you for helping support those programs. We will continue to to be visible, individually and collectively, providing leadership, support, and a passion for our work in our local community and abroad.

No matter what the call to action may be, Marianna Area Alumnae Chapter will continue to demonstrate charity and would like all of you to do the same. You can show your support through sharing our activities and events with others, your participation in various programming, and contributing monetarily or making other in-kind donations. Through your partnership, the focus on the Sorority’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness & Involvement, Physical and Mental Health & Involvement, and Political Awareness and Involvement can be more than mere words; but words put into action for the betterment of Marianna and the surrounding area, the State of Arkansas, our country, and the world.

Thanks for visiting our website. We look forward to partnering with you this year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Precilla Westbrook-Wade, President
